Papers of the Leach family include deeds for land in Plymouth and Halifax, Mass., 1745-89; genealogical notes pertaining to the Leach, Standish, and Jones families; and letters written by Philip Leach, 1920-21 to the Massachusetts Historical Society, Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendents, and other organizations, pertaining to materials donated and Leach family genealogy. Also includes a patent signed by President John Adams and Secretary of State Timothy Pickering, 13 Apr. 1797, for a screw auger, invented by Caleb Leach, for boring and finishing wooden conduit pipes.
